I have been localizing mobile games since 2013. I started in English to Chinese (Taiwan), but switched to Chinese (Simplified/Traditional) to English later, because at that time the pairing was still relatively new and I wanted to explore it.
There were times when I questioned my choice to switch, because when I was with my last employer as an in-house mobile game translator, most of the games developed by China that came my way were clones of popular IPs or clones of those clones, and it seemed like a dead-end.
